ARE YOU READY TO START YOUR JOURNEY?

Fundamentals

Your Barefoot Massage journey begins here. This class will teach you how to use your feet to provide a full body deep tissue, myofascial focused ashiatsu barefoot massage session. This class focuses on techniques applied on posterior aspects of the client’s body, as your weight and natural gravitational forces are utilized to effortlessly maintain consistent pressure through your feet. While the work is focused primarily with the client prone, therapists will learn supine work as well.

Fundamentals is the starting point for those wanting to train in the Myofascial Ashiatsu “FasciAshi” style of Barefoot Massage – although it’s a “beginner” class, it is definitely a challenge for your mind, body and SOLE! Review your bony landmarks, endangerment sites, and muscle pathways – as well as the anatomical terminology that goes along with all that! FasciAshi sessions use overhead support bars as well as our proprietary Ashi-Strap to help regulate your pressure, flow and balance while the client lies on a massage table.

No prerequisite needed - other than you MUST be a licensed massage therapist

24 CE hours | Three days in class | $750 total tuition

Intermediate

This intermediate ashiatsu barefoot massage class empowers the experienced barefoot massage therapist to work even slower, maintain long sustained pressure holds on trigger points or adhered layers of tissue, and deliver deep myofascial strokes to the anterior and lateral aspects of your client’s body.

Supine and Side-body strokes will give you the tools to provide a comprehensive feet-on practice in the often forgotten, hard to reach areas of the body. We share how to work along the topography of our clients bones, and manipulate the length of each muscle and fascial chain.

Intricate use of the FasciAshi support strap is a big focus in this class. This unique addition to the overhead ashiatsu bars allows us to work on variable angles and vectors with consistent, controllable pressure that prevents fatigue for the barefoot massage therapist.

Prerequisites: Fundamentals or previous live Ashiatsu training.

16 CE hours | Two days in class | $500 tuition

Stretch therapy / ROM

With a focus on Active and Resisted Range of Motion techniques, this Stretch Therapy barefoot massage technique allows the Massage Therapist to stand on a massage table and maneuver clients’ limbs using the strong muscles of their legs and hips to steer and control client positioning and motion. We hold onto overhead bars and lean into our suspended support straps for balance and leverage as we lift, bend, and twist clients into assisted stretches while they activate their muscles as cued by the practitioner, adding resistance and dynamic stretch theory into the mix. Our approach to assisted stretching helps a practitioner effortlessly maintain consistent pressure and counterbalance while providing deep point holds, or long fascial stretches.

We also compress or restrict clients compensating body parts down into a neutral alignment while creating various ranges of motion throughout all major joints in the body. The Barefoot Massage Therapist can observe movement patterns and queue the client into resisted actions to help build joint stability, and encourage their interoceptive awareness during passive fascial stretching and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.

We’ll be reviewing secure draping options while blending ROM into slow gliding, non-lubricated movements along the client’s skin. Can be adapted for more use of creme or provided with the client clothed. A full-body, (supine, side-lying and prone) 3-dimensional stretch sequence is taught.

Prerequisites: FasciAshi Fundamentals

16 CE hours | Two days in class | $500 tuition

Revitalize your work with a Refresher, Touch-Up or Retake

At the Center for Barefoot Massage, we believe that true mastery comes from continuous, hands-on learning. While our classes are designed to maximize retention, attending just once may not be enough to fully grasp all the techniques. Revisiting courses allows you to deepen your understanding and refine your skills. Each of our instructors brings a unique perspective to the same core content. By experiencing different teaching styles or simply refreshing your knowledge after some time, you gain valuable insights that enhance your practice.

To support your ongoing education, we offer several options:

  • Revitalize (Refresher): A day-at-a-time update to keep your skills sharp.$125/day, no CE’s, no new manuals. Email Dawn, your instructor for availability. If you’ve already taken our classes, you are eligible to take our Revitalize or “refresher” class, which is where you’ll drop in into an existing class that you have already attended You will be working side by side with LMT’s new to that class – or if the class is full, you may be a wallflower listening and observing every move. When are the refresher classes?! Any class on the schedule, if a spare spot is available, has the potential to be a refresher class. To see if space is available and if a spare spot is able to be offered, email the instructor of the class coinciding with the dates and location that you’d like to drop in on. The prereq is just that you’ll need to have attended that class previously. (Like if you want a Fundamentals refresher, you must have already attended our Fundamentals class.)The price is $125/day of class. The 2 day classes (Intermediate, ROM, Advanced, Fijian/Matwork) are $250. The 3-day Fundamentals class is $375. It is at each individual instructors discretion if they choose to offer days of each class a-la-cart, or if all must be attended – this is based on the needs of the classroom for that particular set of dates, and other logistical factors. No CE’s are issued for these review courses, and no new instruction manuals are provided – but you can order a replacement or updated manual for $100 prior to your attendance at these events.
